The OM1005 Ethernet switch has four 10/100/1000BASE-T electrical ports and one optical SFP port. The SFP port supports a variety of wavelengths, optical speeds, and fiber types depending on which SFP module is ordered. Since both 100BASE-X and 1000BASE-X
optics are supported, the optical network may be upgraded to a higher speed at a later time. The SFP type (multimode, singlemode, or bidirectional single fiber) is specified at the
time of ordering, and can be seen on the label on the base of the unit (see Ordering
Information). A signal strength bar graph shows the received optical power. The Ethernet and power connectors are on the front for easy access. A rear dip switch enables manual or auto configuration. The power input accepts 5 to 30 VDC input from an external power cube (supplied). A secondary power supply connection is available on the rear of the case.

The OM1001-AUI has one optical port and one Ethernet AUI (MAU) port. It connects a legacy ethernet device with an AUI (DTE) port to a 1000BASE-X network device.
The OM1001E converter translates 10/100/1000BASE-T signals to 1000BASE-X optical. It has one optical and one RJ-45 twisted pair port. Auto negotiation and MDI/MDI-X crossover provide plug and play operation, or the operation mode may be set with switches. The OM1001E has an extended input voltage range for 5, 12 or 24V operation. The OM1001E supersedes the OM1001.
The OM1000 converter translates 1000BASE-T to 1000BASE-X. It has one optical and one RJ-45 twisted pair port. Two OM1000 converters can be connected back to back to interconnect a pair of local area networks. Auto negotiation, limited to 1000 Mbps, and auto MDI/MDI-X crossover provide plug and play operation. Jumbo frames are supported.
The OM1000P media converter has one optical and one electrical port. It connects a 1000BASE-T Ethernet device to a 1000BASE-X fiber optic Local Area Network over a pair of optical fibers. The OM1000P can supply 48 Volts to attached equipment for PoE applications.
The OM102P media converter has one optical and one RJ-45 twisted pair port. It translates 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX. The OM102P can supply 48 Volts to attached 802.3af equipment for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. A legacy mode is available to support IP phones predating the 802.3af standard. Auto negotiation, limited to 100 Mbps, and auto MDI/MDI-X crossover provide plug and play operation. Jumbo frames are supported.
The OM102 converter has one optical and two RJ-45 twisted pair ports. It translates 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX. The OM102 can supply 48 Volts to attached 802.3af equipment for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. Auto negotiation and MDI/MDI-X crossover provide plug and play operation.
Two Ethernet LANs can be bridged over a serial link by using two OM100Ses. The OM100S converts
Ethernet packets to and from serial data.
For longer distances the serial port can connect to a synchronous serial modem such as a CSU/DSU. The OM100S is sometimes used with a secure terminal for data encryption. The serial interface is switch selectable as EIA-530/A, V.35, or RS-232.
The OM101 converter has one optical and one RJ-45 twisted pair port. It translates 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX. Auto negotiation and MDI/MDI-X crossover provide plug and play operation. Two OM101’s can be connected back-to-back to interconnect networks. The OM101 is available with ST or SC connectors, and for singlemode or multimode fiber.
The OM101PD is a 802.3af powered device which receives its power from the RJ-45 twisted pair port. This eliminates the need for a power cube. It's intended for use with switch and router products that source 48 Volts according to the 802.3af specification. It translates 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX. Auto negotiation and MDI/MDI-X crossover provide plug and play operation.
The OM101-AUI has one optical port and one Ethernet AUI (MAU) port. It connects a legacy ethernet device with an AUI (DTE) port to a 100BASE-FX network device.
The OM100 media converter has one optical and one RJ-45 twisted pair port. It translates 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX. A switch flips the Tx and Rx pairs which eliminates the need for
crossover cables. The OM100 is available with ST or SC connectors, and for singlemode or multimode fiber. Jumbo frames are supported.
This media converter provides a low cost interface between a computer’s Ethernet twisted
pair port and a 10BASE-FL fiber optic network. The modem offers full duplex
operation over single or multi-mode fiber.
The OM8 attaches to a legacy 802.3 AUI port, and converts the signal to a 10BASE-FL optical signal. The OM8 fibers attaches to any IEEE 10BASE-FL port.
Fiber Reach: Multimode 4 km; Singlemode 40 km
Data Rate: 10 Mbps
Accessories:
OMC1E
100BASE-FX or OC3 Singlemode to Multimode Fiber Converter
The OMC1E converts an optical singlemode fiber signal to an optical multimode fiber signal. It is often used in 100BASE-FX systems to transition from singlemode fiber to multimode fiber; however, it works equally well with SONET OC3 or other optical signals with data rates under 155 Mbps. The OMC1E supersedes the OMC1, and is a direct replacement that has an extended voltage input range of +4.5V to +32VDC.
